Usually games are leaked by people: offended contractors, chatty localizers, random testers. But sometimes the game is sold by its own publisher, having carefully loaded into the backend of the store everything that they promised to show to journalists in a year.

There are spoilers ahead, be careful.

This is exactly what happened with Persona 6: A list of 48 achievements turned out to be available via the Steam API, although no one published it on the store page. Trackers like Exophase regularly scrape proprietary data from Valve and tightened up table automatically, and SteamDB recorded the latest changes in the backend.

From these short lines an almost complete framework of the game was formed. The action takes place in Yokohama, the squad of heroes is called Hex, and joining involves signing a contract and official membership in the organization.

Then the most unexpected thing begins: the player will have to arrest not only people, but also Shadows, including Alice (Alice) and the Reaper.

No one hid the names of the dungeons either:

  • Hellrite Stage

  • Justiceopolis

  • Reverie Dreamland

  • Craveheart Tower

  • Yama’s Ledger

  • Enlightenment Factory

  • Yokohama without masks (Unmasked Yokohama)

The mechanics are as clear as the plot. In battles, handoffs, bloody skills (Bloodstruck), special cartridges for starting a fight and Breach will appear, and in the Velvet Room there will be a paired fusion (Dyad Fusion), fusions of three or more Persons, crystallization of the spirit and the obligatory Masakado.

A separate achievement line hints at detective work with a hundred-note notepad and red threads that tie together clues in meetings, and in between you can play the Police Panic arcade machine. Perhaps we will play as a policeman or have such a partner.

The most discussed figure, eighty Connections, most likely does not mean eighty full-fledged social links, but a division into Connections of the Major Arcana and small acquaintances in a couple of scenes. The assistant in the Velvet Room is called Wilhelmina, and the community quickly remembered that this was the full name of Mina Harker from Dracula, and together with the bloody skills, it looks like a change in the literary source of names from Frankenstein to the vampire classics.
