2021 has just begun, but Samsung has already launched the Galaxy S21 series, making it the earliest debut among Samsung’s flagship products. New smartphones have powerful batteries, tons of energy, and impressive screens, which cannot but
attract users’ interest.
Considering buying a model from a new series, but first, you want to know what else is on the market? Let’s consider together the Best Samsung Galaxy S21 Alternatives…
1. Xiaomi Mi 11
Samsung is not technically the first manufacturer to launch a Snapdragon 888 smartphone, as Xiaomi Mi 11 with this chipset under the hood was launched in China back in late December. However, the phone is indeed available for purchase so far only in the domestic market of the Middle Kingdom.
The Mi 11 contains the aforementioned high-quality internals, but this time Xiaomi has also focused on delivering a great display. The new phone features a 120Hz OLED display and QHD + resolution for the first time since the 2015 Mi Note Pro. Those who appreciate a smooth and high-quality screen should pay attention to this.
The Xiaomi phone also has several other useful features, including a 4600 mAh battery, 55W wired charging, and 50W wireless charging. You won’t get a camera with autofocus and large zoom on the back, but the main 108MP shooter, 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens, an 5MP telephoto lens should give good results anyway. Ironically, the phone also offers heart rate detection via an in-display fingerprint sensor.
2. Samsung Galaxy S20FE (Fan Edition)
Spend roughly $ 100 more on your Galaxy S21 vs. Galaxy S20, and you get a more powerful processor, more base RAM, and 8K recording. But last year’s cheaper flagship has several advantages over the S21, such as support for microSD memory cards and a much larger battery…
The rest of the Galaxy S20 FE in 2021 will continue to be a complex device with Exynos 990 or Snapdragon 865 processor, 120Hz FHD + OLED screen, and triple main camera on the back. Samsung also promises three generations of Android version updates for various phones, including the Galaxy S20 FE, so you don’t have to worry about software updates.
It’s also worth noting that the device is currently selling for around $ 600, making it already $ 200 cheaper than the Galaxy S21.
3. Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra
Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra still very expensive, but it’s worth taking a closer look at this 2020 flagship, especially if you can find a great deal. The previous device, Samsung Ultra, hides under the hood Exynos 990 or Snapdragon 865 Plus chipset, A 120Hz QHD + OLED screen, and Samsung’s usual flagship extras (IP68 water and dust resistance, wireless charging, Dex support). It also has a microSD card slot, which is not guaranteed for the S21 series.
Unlike Galaxy S21 Ultra, Note 20 Ultra still has a dedicated S Pen slot (instead of using a case). So if you really value the S Pen above all else, this phone is worth considering. That being said, you’re missing out on the latest and greatest 5000mAh flagship battery and dual zoom focusing rear cameras if you choose this model over the S21 Ultra. The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is still one of the best Galaxy S21 alternatives.
4. Google Pixel 5
With its latest Pixel phone, Google has taken a different path, ditching flagship chips in favor of a mid-range processor. So if gaming performance is critical to you, you will be better off with the S21. With Google Phone, you also missed out on a few other features, the basic S21has such as a third rear camera and 120Hz refresh rate.
That said, the Pixel 5 isn’t bad either. It implements specifications such as a 90Hz OLED screen, IP68 water and dust resistance, dual rear camera (with an ultra-wide-angle lens), wireless charging, and 4080 mAh battery… Google Pixel phones also feature excellent picture quality and a standard Android OS with constant software updates. Note that Samsung has also been making such promises for its flagships lately and sticking to them.
5. OnePlus 8 Pro
OnePlus 9 may be very close, but for now, the OnePlus 8 Pro is still a good alternative to the Galaxy S21 in 2021. There are strong arguments that this is also the brand’s first full-fledged premium flagship. This is thanks to the device offering IP68 water and dust resistance and wireless charging for the first time. But it also invades premium territory with its 120Hz QHD + OLED screen, very similar to the displays of Samsung’s high-end flagships.
The OnePlus 8 Pro also rejected the company’s tendency to provide good but not great camera quality. Thanks to using a 48-megapixel Sony IMX689 sensor for the camera module’s main sensor and a 48MP ultra-wide-angle camera. However, we could definitely do without a gimmick like a color filter camera.
At the time of writing, the OnePlus 8 Pro is available priced at $ 799 in stores… It’s the same price as the base Galaxy S21, which offers a new flagship processor and 8K recording. But the Pro variant still gives you a normal telephoto lens, a bigger battery, faster wireless charging, and a QHD + display.
