The launch is accompanied by a video called “Play Like You Used To”, which references the iconic “Believe” trailer for Halo 3. According to the team, the whole idea of the video is to bring back the feeling of a time when multiplayer games were “social, unpredictable and impossible to put down.”

Wardogs It’s ambitious, rough in places, and still has a long way to go, but this is exactly what early access should be. We put the game in the hands of players, listen to what they have to say, and take the risks necessary to make it something that lasts. Most of all, we want people to come into the game, interact with each other, and enjoy the first-person shooter experience as much as we did as children.

Wardogs pits three warring teams against each other in large-scale battles, combining tactical gunplay with several game mechanics:

  • transport for quick movement and assault of positions

  • construction of fortifications directly during the battle

  • destructible environment that changes the course of combat

  • local voice chat that unites allies and enemies in one conversation, creating unpredictable situations

The game mode is built on the principle of the classic “king of the hill”. Three teams battle for control of randomized 2×2 kilometer zones located within larger maps.

Points are awarded to the team that has more players in its control zone, and the side that scores 100 points first wins.

Players take on the role of mercenaries, and this is where the persistent money metagame comes into play: each participant starts with a bankroll of $10,000. Once on the map, you can purchase equipment – weapons, equipment, utility items and vehicles – to maximally help the team in battle.
