Active Matter will be available on Steam and consoles in the first half of 2026

Gaijin Network and Matter Team have officially confirmed that the extraction first-person shooter Active Matter, previously released on PC through the Gaijin Store, will appear on the service Steam in the first half of 2026. At the same time, the game will be available for the first time on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles.

It is worth noting that release on Steam does not mean a full release. The game will still be distributed through the early access program, during which the developers plan to collect feedback and release updates. The exact release date for version 1.0 has not yet been announced.

Active Matter is an extraction shooter in which players control operatives stuck in a time loop. For each outing, the character chooses equipment and goes to the so-called quantum unstable zones – territories rich in active matter. This substance has unique properties: it distorts space and time, changes physics, and randomly drags objects and creatures from other timelines. Traveling through these zones, operatives will encounter competitors from parallel realities, terrible mutants and other creatures of active matter. The main goal is to extract the maximum amount of this resource, pick up valuable items and evacuate before the zone disappears along with everything inside.
