Filming the film adaptation of Street Fighter from Legendary Pictures presented the film crew with a funny curiosity, which director Kitao Sakurai revealed at a Q&A session in front of the media. Speech came in about the physical training of Callina Liang, who plays the role of Chun Li, and how seriously the actress took body transformation for the sake of the iconic “thunder thighs” of the character.
Liang’s leg muscles grew so much that the actress’s stunt double had to wear special pads on her buttocks so that during stunt scenes her silhouette would match the physical shape that Liang had gained while preparing for the role.
I knew it was serious when we were filming a scene towards the end of the film and I saw Callina’s stunt double. I was like, “What are you wearing?” And she had these pads that she wore just to match Callina’s physical form.

Noah Centineo, who played Ken Masters, supported the story:
Yes, and then we also had to wear them out of solidarity.
The film will also star David Dastmalchyan, who embodied the cult villain of the series M. Bison on the screen – the actor spoke in detail in a separate interview about how he studied the biographies of real cult leaders in order to create the image of a psychopathic dictator with mystical powers.
We studied everyone, from Idi Amin to the Italian fascists of the Second World War. We looked not at movie characters, but at real personalities.
The Street Fighter film adaptation will hit theaters on October 16, 2026.
