Amazon Prime Video has released a trailer for the new film adaptation of Stephen King’s cult novel Carrie.

The plot revolves around a withdrawn teenage girl who is bullied both at school and at home by her own mother. At some point, the heroine discovers that she has telekinetic abilities and decides to use them to take revenge on everyone who bullied her for many years.

The series was directed and written by Mike Flanagan, known for his productions of “The Life of Chuck” and “Doctor Sleep.” Flanagan made it clear that his version of “Carrie” will surprise even those viewers who are well aware of the original novel and all previous film adaptations of the story.

This is one of my favorite things about the project because for the first time in my career I can honestly say: no, you don’t know what’s going to happen next. Although this is exactly the case when everyone is sure that they already know the story in advance.

The main role in the new series is played by Summer H. Howell. The cast was completed by Matthew Lillard, Katee Sackhoff and Samantha Sloyan, known to viewers from many other projects in the drama and horror genres.

The series premiere will take place on October 7, with all six episodes becoming available to viewers immediately on the release day without the traditional weekly release schedule.
