An insider shared his impressions of RPG Fable gameplay footage

Gaming industry insider Jez Corden shared details of the gameplay of the role-playing game Fable. In the new podcast episode The Xbox Two he said that he had seen some gameplay videos of the game and was impressed by the quality of the material. However, he was unable to say exactly how long ago the recording was made or whether it reflected the final quality of the game.

Here are his words:

“I recently saw some alpha gameplay footage of Fable. I don’t know when they were filmed – I’m not sure if it was early in development or just recently – but they looked fantastic. It’s clear that the game has CD Projekt Red DNA. Playground Games hired several developers, and I think they hired a combat designer – and it shows right away. I’m not saying that this is a 100% copy of The Witcher, because it’s not, but you can see similarities in the combat system: melee combat, pirouettes, dodging, smooth transitions from cutting to finishing – it all looks very cool. It’s all already there and looks very polished. If this was an early version of the game, it probably looks even better now.

In addition, there were many different types of weapons in the footage. I saw the player using a bow and arrow, as well as casting spells – one of which lifted a group of enemies off the ground and hurled them back. I also saw some unusual enemies, such as a giant chicken. She looked like an ordinary chicken, but with a comical edge, although at the same time she seemed dangerous and scary. I also saw werewolves. At one point, the characters lured a werewolf out of his lair using bacon, eggs and sausage.

It looked really cool. The combat system was very dynamic and precise. I saw a variety of weapons, including a huge hammer that could be swung and hit multiple enemies at once. My hype level has increased significantly after what I saw, so I’m now very confident in Fable.”

The game’s release date is still listed as “around 2025”, so we can only wait for news and hope that there will be no delays or postponements.
