Andrew Garfield wantsso that Paul Greengrass’s “Rise” not only entertains the audience, but makes them think about the problems of modern society. The actor went even further – he hopes that the film can seriously scare billionaires.
In the historical drama, Garfield plays the Plowman, a simple farmer who, after a plague epidemic, rebels against King Richard II. The reason is a brutal tax, and the hero himself is partly inspired by the legend of Robin Hood.
I hope the film encourages people to take action. That we will see our own difficulties reflected in the struggle of these characters and understand where to move next. And I hope that if any billionaires watch it, they’ll be scared to death.
The actor also remembered one of the key phrases of the film: “There will be no peace until we are healed.” According to him, these words sound as relevant today as they did six centuries ago. Garfield added that it is billionaires who may need this “healing” the most.
The international distribution of “Rise” starts on September 11, and Russian viewers will see the film a little later – on October 15.
