French studio Irregular Shapes, together with publisher Firesquid, has released the urban planning simulator City Tales: Medieval Era. Full cost of the game Steam is 710 ₽, but until February 12 you can purchase it for 461.50 ₽, thanks to the 35% discount. There are also two cosmetic sets on sale.
City Tales: Medieval Era has been in early access for several months. Version 1.0 includes a full two-act story, 11 masterpieces, 10 companions, 3 hand-crafted maps, a full economy with 48 resources, 18 civic buildings, and much more. There is also a Painter Mode that allows players to freely build and create without any resource restrictions.
“During Early Access, we worked very hard and closely with our community, which allowed us to continually improve our game,” says Remi Male, CEO of Irregular Shapes. “The launch of version 1.0 is an important moment for us as a game studio as it is our first game and we really hope that fans of city building simulators will appreciate everything that City Tales – Medieval Era has to offer.”
City Tales: Medieval Era is an atmospheric city-building simulator that puts the player in the role of a medieval lord whose task is to build a prosperous settlement. The main feature of the game is the abandonment of a rigid grid in favor of “organic growth”, which allows roads and buildings to be located naturally, forming a vibrant and visually unique appearance of the city. In this process, the lord is assisted by nine associates, each of whom has his own history and specialization, allowing him to more effectively manage production and develop the economy through personal assignments and missions.
The gameplay balances between contemplative construction in a fairytale style and strategic management. The development of each district directly depends on the needs of its residents. The success of a city is determined by the player’s ability to wisely distribute resources and adapt to the growing demands of the population, turning a modest village into a majestic cultural center. The project pays great attention to detail and personalization, offering a wide range of tools for decorating streets and buildings.
