If you like the work of the Telltale Games development studio, then you have nothing to worry about in terms of the fact that suddenly you will not have anything to play – because they do not stop there, and after the release of their last game they took on a new universe. Guess which one? It seems that recent events have affected them too, so it’s not surprising that the developers have chosen DC comics as their next universe. Now you can relive the story of Bruce Wayne in a game from your favorite developers (and if they’re not already your favorite developers, they could very well be on your list of favorite developers). So, let’s talk about this game – Batman: A Telltale Series – in more detail.

About this game

Like all other games from Telltale Games, this one will be released in episodes in a total of five pieces – five chapters. At the moment, only the first episode is ready, which will be discussed. It should be noted right away that this game focuses on precisely how difficult it is to maintain one’s, so to speak, “first” face, which is known to everyone in Gotham – billionaire Bruce Wayne, the only survivor of the Wayne family. To some extent, this particular side of Batman was chosen precisely in order not to repeat and not retell the classics, that is, not to tell everyone a long-familiar story. This is probably a good move, although who thinks.

The plot of the first and subsequent episodes

The names of all episodes are already known, and the first of them is referred to as “The Kingdom of Shadows”. Those who are just about to play the game might think that there will most likely be an introduction atmosphere – to the life of Bruce, to the life of Gotham, because both can be described as the Kingdom of Shadows. At first, everything goes quite according to the usual route. We get to know the main character and other characters, we see how the threads of different storylines are tied. Bruce’s main goal is to end injustice, and this fight is possible not only in a suit and with various devices to win by brute force. Everyone knows by what means he fights evil and injustice when he is not wearing his mask. Therefore, he finances the election campaign of the famous personality Dent Harvey, who has the same goals that Bruce himself pursues. At the same time, he is trying to stop the criminal activities of the mafia boss Carmine Falcone, who has actually become the shadow ruler of all of Gotham City. Defeating him is not so easy, because he has taken control of almost everything in the city. That’s why Batman doesn’t sleep at night. Moreover, Oswald Cobblepot, Batman’s old friend, suddenly appears in the city, and his appearance does not bode well. In addition, during one of his nightly outings, he stumbles upon Catwoman, who steals some important data. All these events are the beginning of a fascinating story in which you are free to choose the lines of the main character, perform various actions of your choice, and so on.

Game process

Those who are already familiar with the work of these developers can easily imagine the gameplay of this game. By the way, I must also say that the developers have improved the game engine, so it will be smoother in terms of mechanics and graphics. The gameplay is quite traditional for the games of this development studio. It’s like an interactive movie in which you determine which path the plot will take, what your character will be, in this case – you can determine some direction of Bruce Wayne’s character, make it softer or harder, well, in general, understandable.
