Rockstar Games has announced the exact release date for Grand Theft Auto V on current generation consoles. It will release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on March 15, 2022. A free standalone version of GTA Online will be available for three months after launch. In addition, all owners of the game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will be able to transfer the progress of the story campaign and one-time transfer of GTA Online progress.
The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions will feature new graphics modes up to 4K, support for up to 60 frames per second, improved textures and extended draw distance, HDR, ray tracing, and other technical improvements, including faster load times, 3D audio and platform-specific features such as haptic feedback.
Grand Theft Auto Online will also get a number of improvements, such as the ability to skip the prologue of the story mode and a new tutorial. New players enter the Career Builder, which gives them instant access to one of four illegal businesses (Biker, Executive Director, Nightclub Owner or Gunsmith) and a large sum of money to choose real estate, an expensive car and weapons to start their business. Returning players will also have the option to restart their character and use the Career Builder.
Also coming to the game is a new auto repair shop, Hao’s Special Works, which will allow players to upgrade certain vehicles (five new and five existing at launch) to achieve elite driving performance.
