Nightdive Studios has officially announced a remaster of the classic first-person shooter Star Wars: Dark Forces, released in 1995. The game will release in Q4 2023 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch and will include the following changes:
- Resolution up to 4K
- Up to 120 fps
- Advanced 3D rendering (mainly: better lighting and effects)
- Gamepad support (for example, there is a weapon wheel)
- Steam Achievements
- Updated cut scenes and content.
The plot of Star Wars: Dark Forces takes place before and after the events of Star Wars. Episode IV: A New Hope. The main character is Kyle Katarn, a former cadet of the Imperial military school who defected to the side of the rebels. He discovers the Galactic Empire’s Secret Project “Dark Soldier”, which includes the development of a series of powerful new battle droids and powered stormtroopers.
