Systemic Reaction has announced the end of development of its co-op first-person shooter Second Extinction. The game was released in early access in 2020, and the full release was supposed to take place in October last year. However, as the developers explained, they soon realized that they lacked the resources to achieve the required quality. After a year of searching for potential solutions to problems, the team came to the only possible solution for them – closing the project.
Second Extinction is no longer available for purchase on the Steam and Microsoft Store digital stores, or can be downloaded via Game Pass. However, those who have already purchased the game will be able to continue playing it until the servers are shut down, which is expected at the end of 2024.
Representatives of Systemic Reaction noted that the development of Second Extinction was a great experience for them. The studio has already compiled a list of good things, as well as problems that they will try to avoid in future projects.
