Publisher Coffee Stain Publishing and developer Iron Gate Studio have revealed the release date for survival simulator Valheim. The game will appear in Early Access on February 2, 2021, and be sold on Steam. The team plans to regularly release updates at this stage, adding biomes, enemies, bosses, and more.
“Valheim is a really brutal game. You will die – many times. Your friends will die – many times. But we hope we managed to find this balance between excessive cruelty and worthy reward for the challenge, – said Richard Svensson, CEO of Iron Gate Studio. “We’ve created a huge and diverse world that has room for much more. We are delighted to welcome new players to our community to work together during Early Access. ”
Valheim offers a huge procedurally generated world where players will explore dense forests, snow-capped mountain ranges, and mystical meadows. The combat system is based on dodging and blocking and includes a wide range of weapons for battling the bosses of myth and legend. You can play alone or with nine friends. The game also offers a flexible system of building houses and bases, intuitive crafting and building of ships, and dedicated servers.
Valheim is expected to be fully released in about a year. However, depending on the feedback and the amount of content that the developers decide to add to the final version, the early access phase may be delayed.
