Publisher SEGA and developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Yakuza / Like a Dragon franchise. In honor of the landmark date dedicated to the release of the first part for the PlayStation 2, a two-minute concept video was released. Over the past two decades, the series has acquired eight main parts, not counting remakes and remasters, as well as numerous spin-offs, including a television series for Amazon Prime and a feature-length Japanese film.
The concept video, released for the 20th anniversary, tells the story of a young man and his career, inspired by quotes from the series’ main protagonist, Kazuma Kiryu.
The next major release in the series, Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties, is scheduled for February 12, 2026. The game will be released on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.
