Night City in Cyberpunk 2077 is waiting – and if you’re going to be a legend, you’ll need all the help you can get. The first 10 hours of playing Cyberpunk 2077 for beginners can be hell. There are so many skills, activities, and possibilities in this cyberpunk dystopia that we’re still trying to figure it all out.

And to help you focus on what really matters, we’ve compiled a list of simple tips to keep in mind. If you want to earn more points, get decent rewards, and deal more damage with headshots, here’s everything you need to know.

Save Ability Points

Do not spend your ability and attribute points immediately after receiving. Sometimes passing a technical aptitude test may be required to complete certain tasks, such as opening a locked door. In dialogues, certain options also open only if the corresponding abilities or characteristics are sufficiently valued. You can pause the game right in the middle of the dialogue to level up these abilities and pass checks.

Do everything to get more points

Cyberpunk 2077 Guide: Beginner Tips

Don’t get hung up on one weapon or play style. Try to change approaches. Pick up a shotgun at some level. Hack everything you can and start crafting from the very beginning. You can even run everywhere, and not drive a car, to pump up the Athletics skill – for what? Because it allows you to earn ability points that can be spent everywhere, not just in the earned area.

Use quick hack more often

Cyberpunk 2077 Guide: Beginner Tips

With each hack you gain experience. Whenever possible, use all available memory cells to hack systems while exploring the world and in combat – along with the experience for hacking, you will receive ability points. It is useful to get into the habit of periodically scanning the environment – a quick hack will allow you to find valuable trophies, hotspots and much more.

Try not to use fast travel

If you always use fast travel, you can miss out on calls and text messages on your phone. Usually they are tied to missions nearby, marked on the map with a yellow question mark. Try to complete them as much as possible to earn more money.

Collect (almost) all loot

Cyberpunk 2077 Guide: Beginner Tips

Don’t just take what you need and leave the rest. In particular, it is imperative to check all bodies after firefights and collect weapons from them – they can be disassembled into components for crafting. Use the scanner to look for items that are “garbage” intended only for sale – sometimes you can find something rare and very valuable. A lot of money is needed here, so collect all the trunks and open all the boxes. It is worth leaving only completely useless garbage.

Don’t rush through Act 1

Cyberpunk 2077 Guide: Beginner Tips

At the beginning of Act 2, you will need to buy a new car – and if you don’t have enough money, you will have to walk around Night City on foot. This is not good for your reputation. Take the time to complete various side quests to fill your bank account before taking on the Heist mission.

Buy a new cyberdeck as soon as possible

Cyberpunk 2077 Guide: Beginner Tips

In terms of purchases, your initial cyberdeck is practically useless because it cannot be upgraded. It may not even be noticed by many at the beginning of the game, but a quick hack can be a very useful tool, especially if you prefer stealth.

Shoot in the head for more damage

Cyberpunk 2077 Guide: Beginner Tips

Sniper rifles and pistols have special abilities that allow you to deal more damage with headshots. And when combined with the Silent weapon abilities, the damage increases even more – you can create a silent and deadly character who always shoots in the head.

Hack access points

Cyberpunk 2077 Guide: Beginner Tips

Access points can be found literally at every turn, and hacking them will help you get more money and crafting components. If you see cameras or other objects connected to the network, you can use the Query function to search for access points, or simply scan your surroundings and find them nearby. Be sure to try to fulfill the maximum possible number of conditions to receive a reward!

Hotspot Hacking is a small mini-game in which you have to connect numbers in a row – the numbers must be in the same row or the same column. The more numbers you connect correctly, the more you will receive a reward.

Starting level 20 sniper rifle

Cyberpunk 2077 Guide: Beginner Tips

Almost at the very beginning of the game, you can find an incredibly powerful sniper rifle. In the City of Dreams mission, when you and Jackie arrive at the Reaper, go to the Esoterica store and go into the alley, but do not go down the stairs immediately. On the left, almost immediately after the door from the store, there will be a passage to the elevator. Go to the roof in it and open the purple suitcase next to a small elevation – there will be a SV-32 Grad sniper rifle.

Sniper rifle SV-32 “Grad”

  • 694-848 units damage
  • Required level: 20
  • The potential will be revealed when the level of the “Strength” characteristic reaches 6
  • Price: 642 Eurodollars.

Of course, the tips above are great to know before starting the game, but even if you are already playing Cyberpunk 2077, many of them are still relevant and will help you become a Night City legend.
