Discord launches Social SDK – a new tool for integrating social functions into games

Discord announced the launch of the Social SDK – a new tool that provides developers with the opportunity to integrate the social functions and communication services of the platform into their games. SDK allows you to introduce lists of friends, cross -platform messages, voice chat and other functions without the need to create a discord account. According to the company, the tool will help developers increase user involvement and hold the audience, as well as expand coverage at the expense of the Discord ecosystem, which has more than 200 million active users per month.

The early partners of the project were TheoryCraft Games (Supervive), FacePunch Studios (Rust), Mainframe Industries (Pax Dei) and others. SDK is already available for all developers and compatible with C ++, as well as Unreal Engine and Unity. Windows 11 and MacOS are currently supported, and in the future it is planned to expand on consoles and mobile platforms.

“For the creators of the games, from indie to AAA, Discord is a place where you can connect to the largest and most involved community of players in the world in order to stimulate the growth of your game before, during and after launch. The discovery and retention of games were never so important, and we are pleased to help developers develop our games, reaching gamers where they are. ” – said Stanislav Vishnevsky, co -founder and technical director of Discord.

Now the Discord Social SDK is in the stage of closed beta testing, where the functions of cross-platform messages, related channels for game communities and voice chat based on technology that provides high sound quality, are available. Developers can apply for expanded access to these capabilities.
