Four years after its release, the developers of the first-person shooter DOOM Eternal have added official support for user modifications. The Steam service released a beta version of the idStudio application for content creators and preview mods for PC. It will soon be available in the Microsoft Store.
If you purchased DOOM Eternal on Steam, you can access idStudio. To do this, you need to right-click on the game name, go to properties, and then to the “Beta Versions” tab and select “pc-mod-preview” from the drop-down menu. In the Microsoft Store, game owners or Game Pass subscribers will need to join the test through the Xbox Insider Hub.
“We are very impressed by the modifications the DOOM Eternal community has made without any official tools. They inspired us to release a public beta of idStudio for creators and an optional mod preview for players to easily browse and play. We can’t wait to see what this community does next!” – said the developers.
At the moment, support for user modifications is announced only for PC.
