Daymare 1998 is a game for those who love classic horror games with their high difficulty and strategic basis. The game’s plot revolves around an incident in one of the densely populated cities. After the appearance of a secret research center on its territory, people initially began to disappear, and then the entire population turned into bloodthirsty monsters, ready to tear anyone who coveted into their territory.

Three main characters are taken to investigate the transformation of people. Among them are a gallant soldier from an elite squad, a helicopter pilot and the most ordinary forester who wants to figure out what happened no less than the others. Moving forward little by little, they discover new information about what happened and, with their last strength, go to the finale that will predetermine their fate. The developers made their bets not so much on the plot as on the gameplay. It is difficult to kill monsters (if you do not know where to aim), cartridges are quickly depleted, and alternating bosses inflict colossal damage at a time, which, without first-aid kits, will lead to death.

The great advantage of the project was its atmosphere. It is imbued with the spirit of the 90s, with references to cult action films and the first installments of the famous Resident Evil series. It’s easy to follow the streets of the city (sound like Raccoon City), the dark colors and the difficulty level. The camera is not fixed here, but it is always held by the shoulder of the protagonist. No less attention is paid to solving puzzles and searching for objects to access the subsequent stages of the passage.
