Kingsway is an unusual indie project that offers you to download an “adventure management operating system” instead of a game. All elements of this operating system are part of the game interface, they can be freely manipulated to fight opponents, explore locations and use items.

In terms of mechanics, Kingsway is a roguelike game with high replayability, rich content and a retro skin. The game mimics the interface of the operating system of the nineties with a small window in which you observe the characteristics, movement map and items of your hero, made in pixel style and accompanied by a chiptune soundtrack. Despite the visual “antiquity” of the project, it has ample opportunities for interaction, where active objects are all parts of the field visible to the player on the screen. To dodge an enemy projectile, just move the window of your hero with the mouse. This style of interaction partly breaks the fourth wall between the player and the events taking place on the screen.

The game has a high non-linearity, from passage to passage opening new classes and abilities available to the hero, new tasks, opponents and choices that the player makes as he interacts with the world. A character can become a hero or a villain, save or destroy the world entrusted to him.
