Metro 2033 for PC is a shooter set in the relatively near future. The story tells of a nuclear apocalypse, as a result of which the population of all cities on Earth was destroyed, and the entire environment was dangerously radiated and turned into a post-nuclear wasteland. Only a few thousand people survived – those who, at the time of the explosion, were in a safe and secure place in the Moscow metro, the largest fallout shelter in history.

The community living in the Russian underground certainly does not have an easy life. Yes, there is no shortage of clean water and air (thanks to purification systems), electricity (generators) and even food produced in underground farms, but none of this changes the fact that the era of human domination over the Earth is long gone.

Animals that lived on the surface underwent strange mutations and turned into deadly monsters. At some point, these creatures began to pursue the inhabitants of the northern part of the shelter, called VDNKh. Over time, the attacks became even more dangerous, and the defenders of the complex were destroyed. You play as a young resident of VDNKh who needs to get to Polis, the central part of the metro, and inform the local residents about the impending danger and ask for their support.

Of course, the road to the heart of the hideout is not paved with violets, let alone roses – there is danger around every corner, leading to fast action in the Moscow metro tunnels. Along the way, you’ll find various equipment, including weapons and gadgets, that make surviving this dangerous environment a little easier.

At some points, the player can also try his hand at the stealth approach – hiding in the dark and silently eliminating opponents one by one instead of attacking at enemy stations. Using the right tactics often results in purely economic consequences – ammo serves as currency, so if your Metro 2033 playstyle requires a ton of ammo, you should get the right amount of funds.

The underground enclaves are truly impressive – full of people going about their business. However, the vast majority of them are impossible to interact with.
