The Forest is a survival video game developed and published by Canadian studio Endnight Games. The game is set on a remote peninsula with a steppe forest, where the player’s character Eric LeBlanc and his son Timmy survived a plane crash. The game presents a non-linear gameplay in an open world, in which there is a first-person narrative, without any tasks or quests, which allows the player to independently make decisions for survival.

The game was released for Microsoft Windows in April 2018 after three years of early beta access, and for the PlayStation 4 in November 2018. By the end of 2018, The Forest had sold over five million copies. In the forest, the user will have to survive on an indefinite grass with a developed forest zone. In this location, the plane fell on which the main character flew over. After waking up, the character meets a “cannibal” who takes away your son. For your survival, you will have to create shelters, craft weapons and create other survival tools.

The fauna of the island will confront the player with forest creatures who have organized entire tribes. They vaguely resemble humans, although they are most similar to mutants, whose habitat is limited to forest settlements and deep caves. In battle, the Aborigines regularly attempt to simply protect their fellow tribesmen from injury by preventing defeat from torches, use cover, and help wounded fellow tribesmen leave the battlefield. They are also able to come up with tactical solutions, try not to run into uncharted territory, and from time to time may surrender under the influence of fear.
