2022 hasn’t gotten off to a great start, but as early as February, the lack of games is more than made up for. We have several long-awaited releases, including the great and mighty Elden Ring, but there is also something for fans of other genres, including MMORPGs. So let’s take a look at what games gamers will be playing in February 2022.
Dying Light 2 Stay Human
The first part of Dying Light, released in 2015, was loved by many. And so much so that the developers for a long time supported the game with both paid and free updates, so the players almost never got bored. On February 4, a full-fledged sequel will be released on PC and consoles, which will offer the same thing, but on a much larger scale.
Dying Light 2 Stay Human will retain one of the main features of the original – parkour. Players will be able to run, jump, pull up on the elements of the environment, deftly land from a great height and much more. And right during intense battles with zombies. Also, the developers promise to pay special attention to the plot, making it elaborate and non-linear.
Studio Techland led the development of the sequel very openly – the authors regularly held shows in which they talked in detail about the various features of the game, published tweets with interesting facts and did not forget about full-fledged trailers. It looks like Dying Light 2 will be a really worthy project.
If you have an Xbox and don’t know what shooter to play, then you can pay attention to CrossfireX. Moreover, the game will be free and if you do not like it, you will not lose money. The release will take place on February 10 exclusively on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, while versions for other platforms, including PC, have not been officially announced.
CrossfireX is powered by Unreal Engine 4 and offers state of the art graphics. All content will be original, although fans will be able to find elements of the classic game. In addition to the standard PvP modes, a unique Battle Royale is also promised, bringing something new to the established gameplay.
The multiplayer part is done by the creators of the original CrossFire, Smilegate studio, but the story campaign was entrusted to Remedy, which is known for such projects as Alan Wake, Max Payne (1, 2), Quantum Break and Control.
King Arthur: Knight’s Tale
On February 15, the tactical RPG King Arthur: Knight’s Tale, which was previously in early access, will be released. The game is being developed by NeocoreGames, known for such games as Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor and The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing.
The single player campaign of King Arthur: Knight’s Tale is based on the classic myth of King Arthur. Players will take on the role of Sir Mordred, King Arthur’s former rival, as they explore Avalon and assemble their own Knights of the Round Table. There is also a PvP mode, where battles take place in a 1v1 format with squads of four characters with pre-set characteristics.
King Arthur: Knight’s Tale is only available on PC for now, but is expected to release on the current generation PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles in the future.
Star Wars: The Old Republic—Legacy of the Sith
Fans of the MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic will receive new story content on February 15th. On this day, a major addition to Legacy of the Sith will be released. True, this will happen with a rather large delay – the update was originally planned to be released back in December last year.
The Legacy of the Sith expansion will focus on the renegade Sith Darth Malgus. Players are waiting for new story content, in which they have to go on a military campaign to protect the strategically important planet Elom. Also, the game will add new missions for co-op, fighting styles for more flexible character customization and various gameplay improvements.
The King of Fighters XV
The King of Fighters fighting game series has a long history. On February 17, the release of the 15th numbered part will take place, which will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
In The King of Fighters XV, the developers are focusing on the dynamism of the combat system and the addition of new elements that make the gameplay more exciting. There will be 39 characters to choose from, including both those already familiar from past games, and completely new ones. The storyline of the 14th part will be continued, and this time we are promised an explosive climax.
After the release, the authors plan to regularly add new characters that will have to be purchased as DLC. This happens in most fighting games, and The King of Fighters XV is no exception.
Destiny 2 – Witch Queen
Destiny 2 can be treated differently, but despite the criticism, this multiplayer first-person shooter still has a huge and loyal audience. On February 22, on all platforms where the game is available, the release of a major add-on “Witch Queen” will take place.
In this new chapter, players will face never-before-seen foes and uncover the truth behind the Witch Queen Savatún. The plot will send the Guardians to the Throne World of Savatun, where they will fight against the Hive warriors, called the Radiant Swarm, who are also endowed with the Light. In addition, the update will add new mechanics to the game, allowing you to create your own weapons with unique combinations of modifiers and shaders, as well as with expanded pools of characteristics.
Fans of “racing” in February will also not be left without attention. On the 25th, GRID Legends, a new part of the well-known series of car simulators, will be released. The game will be available on PC and consoles of two generations.
GRID Legends will boast a unique artificial intelligence of opponents that will create unpredictable races. Players will compete on over 130 courses, including real circuits like Brands Hatch and Indianapolis, to iconic urban GRID circuits like San Francisco, Paris and more. There will be over 100 vehicles to choose from and upgradeable, from classic touring cars to large trucks, single-seat cars and stadium trucks.
On February 25, the long-awaited third-person action game Elden Ring will be released on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. The developer of this game is the From Software studio, which, in the era of rendering everything and everything, gave the hardcore Dark Souls series.
Elden Ring will take place in the world of Inter-earth, created in collaboration with George R. R. Martin, author of the epic A Song of Ice and Fire, which was based on the hit TV series Game of Thrones. Players will be able to explore on foot or on horseback, discover secrets and fight challenging bosses. According to the developers, this will be the biggest game of the studio.
Many users, including those who played the beta version, jokingly call this project Dark Souls 4. However, perhaps this is exactly what Elden Ring fans are waiting for.
