Embracer Group has announced a deal to acquire studios such as Square Enix Montréal, Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montréal. Together with the development studios, a considerable number of projects (more than 50) will be transferred to the Embracer Group, including well-known franchises: Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Legacy of Kain, Thief and others.
“We are delighted to welcome these studios to the Embracer Group. We recognize the fantastic intellectual property, world-class creative talent and excellent track record that has been shown time and time again over the past decades. It was a great pleasure to meet with the leaders and discuss how they can fulfill their ambitions and become an important part of Embracer,” said Lars Vingefors, Head of Embracer Group.
This purchase will cost the Swedish company $300 million, and it is planned to complete the transaction by the end of September 2022.
