Cygames studio has released Version 2.40 update for the fighting game Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, aimed at reducing the barrier to entry. The game has two new simplified control schemes: Smart and Super Ultimate. According to the developers, their game was originally created with a wide audience in mind, and the innovation is designed to make the genre even more accessible.
Smart mode retains the basics of manual controls, but greatly simplifies gameplay. Players can perform full combos simply by repeatedly pressing a single button after being hit by an attack. Actions and combinations are selected automatically based on the situation and distance to the enemy. At the same time, the player retains the opportunity to seize control and enter the desired command. The compensation for automation was a decrease in the character’s maximum health, a decrease in the damage he deals (with the exception of SBA and SSBA abilities), as well as a slower accumulation of the SBA scale. The mode is available in all modes except the story campaign.
The Super Ultimate scheme provides maximum automation. Movement, attacks, throws and combos are performed automatically by simply holding down the attack button. The character even blocks incoming attacks himself when the player does not take any action. This mode is designed specifically for beginners and for playing with friends and family, so it cannot be used in online battles.
You can clearly see in which modes the new schemes are available in the table below:
