The Arc System Works studio, together with PlayStation Studios and Marvel Games, has updated the page for the upcoming team fighting game MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls on the service Steam. Thanks to this, previously unknown details of the gameplay and technical characteristics of the PC version were revealed.
At the time of its official release, the project will offer a roster of 20 playable characters made in anime style. To date, the developers have confirmed the participation of eight heroes and villains, including:
- Captain America (Steve Rogers)
- Doctor Doom (Victor von Doom),
- Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes)
- Iron Man (Tony Stark)
- Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan)
- Spider-Man (Peter Parker),
- Star-Lord (Peter Quill)
- Storm (Ororo Monroe).
The gameplay is built around four-on-four battles with a character changing system. The developers rely on the variability of team combinations and synergy between squad members. For single players, there is a story mode called Episode Mode, which reveals the history of the formation of teams and the internal relationships of characters within the multiverse. The online component is represented by a large-scale interactive lobby that can accommodate up to 64 users simultaneously for organizing matches and social interaction. Dynamic arenas where battles will take place include recognizable locations from Marvel comics and support interactive transitions between zones during the fight.
The control system in MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls provides two options: a traditional scheme for experienced players and a simplified scheme for beginners. The PC version supports 4K resolution and a stable frame rate of 60 frames per second during battle. In addition, full compatibility with the DualSense controller is declared, the functions of which will be available with a wired connection.
