You can pick up and examine most of the items in the game world. All you have to do is get close and press a key to act ([ЛКМ]). Henry ([E]) may take some items with him, such as a turtle, notes, or a bottle of whiskey. They will then be transferred to his watchtower.
From the very first trailers, Firewatch has been a very ambitious and promising project, but at the same time completely incomprehensible.
What the game will be about, and what will have to be done in it – the videos did not answer all these questions at all, and the developers themselves were in no hurry to share information.
There were fears that, apart from beautiful views and atmospheric music, the guys from Campo Santo would not be able to offer the player anything. Fortunately, this turned out not to be the case.
Firewatch can not be called a dynamic game, and interesting in the usual sense of the word, too – the plot here is served in very small portions, and then through dialogues, and the main part of the gameplay is wandering through the endless forests of Wyoming and performing everyday routine. But., in some unknown way, such regularity does not seem boring at all, but on the contrary, it makes you plunge even deeper into the atmosphere. And therefore, instead of quickly running through all these boring tasks, you will probably spend more than an hour or two looking at everything that gets in your way, as well as revealing some secrets and mysteries that the local expanses hide a lot.
An important factor in the complete immersion in the game was, of course, the wonderful work of the voice actors. Here, in fact, there are only two heroes – the protagonist Henry and his boss Delilah, on whose radio communication the main backbone of the project is built. And it is thanks to the excellent work of the actors, as well as solidly written dialogues, that this way of narration does not seem at all gloomy, although the participation of the player is minimal here.
But what didn’t work out so well at Campo Santo is the main story. It can be interesting to listen to the dialogues of the characters, but, unfortunately, there is practically no plot behind this. He is here only nominally and acts as a certain background for everything that is unacceptable in such a narrative game. The finale is completely upsetting – it was necessary to try to lose any intrigue and make the ending so insipid and empty.
Nevertheless, in general, the game still wants to pass. It is quite interesting in its concept, and the amazing dialogues and atmosphere may well capture the player for those 3-4 hours that Firewatch lasts. Campo Santo clearly knew where to stop, and therefore all the negative features of their offspring simply do not have time to spoil it. Thanks to them for that.

At first, some roads may be inaccessible or blocked after certain events. Then you need to find another way, which is usually not too difficult and is always viable. Henry can cross some bushes – you only need to get closer and push them away ([E]). Fallen tree trunks can also be removed, but only after you find an axe.
How to cut down trees
After you get your ax you can chop down some trees. Thanks to this, you open up new paths and locations. To chop down a tree, you just need to walk up to it and interact with it.
In some places there are slopes that Henry cannot cross. This will soon change, because on the second day you will find a backpack with a sufficient supply of ropes. To use them, you just need to approach the rock and interact with the piece of rope attached to it. Thanks to this, Hernie throws a rope that allows you to climb ([ПРОБЕЛ]). The ropes stay where you tied them, so you can climb back up.
Henry can also climb less majestic obstacles and stone blocks. To find such a place, pay attention to the color of the rim – if it is white, it means that you can climb the obstacle. All stone blocks are identical in appearance.
How to use the map and compass
Henry at any point can move around the area using the map ([M]) or compass ([N]). If you don’t know where to go, take out the map.
You can keep in constant contact with Delilah thanks to the fact that you have a walkie-talkie. The mechanism for choosing your answers is as follows: when the radio icon appears on the left side of the screen, you will have a certain amount of time to give your answer. To do this, hold down [SHIFT], select your answer, and release the key. If you linger too long, Henry doesn’t respond.
During the study, you yourself can start a conversation on the radio. You can report items you find or places you visit. You communicate with the radio in the same way as with conversations. In the case of places you visit (or events that have happened), there will be an icon on the right side of the screen that informs you of the option to report. You can also announce that you have hovered over an element by showing a small radio icon next to the name of the element. Similarly, you can report the items you are currently holding in your hands.
On the second day, you will find a backpack with a supply of ropes and a camera. You can use the camera to take photos ([C]) in some moment. However, you must remember that the number of pictures you can take is limited. All photos will be presented to you along with the end credits after the game is over.
After you find the wave receiver, on day 77 you can use it as a compass (so you can equip it at any time [N]. Using the receiver, you need to find the two locations that were marked on the map in this walkthrough (days 77 and 79). Typically, the wave receiver starts beeping faster as you approach a certain point. Also, pay attention to LED diodes. The closer you are to your destination, the more of them will light up.
