The craving for realism in open-world games has long crossed the line where immersion ends and the imitation of everyday life begins. First it’s filling the car with gasoline, then turn signals and seat belts, and then it’s not far from the requirement to lay out a silver curtain on the windshield so that the interior does not turn into an oven.

Exactly this thought brought to the point of logical absurdity in the community dedicated to GTA VI. The occasion was a collage of three photographs of an ordinary reflective screen for a car, shot with a love of detail worthy of a catalog of car accessories.

The logic is ironclad: the game takes place in the state of Leonidas, copied from Florida, and there a car parked in the sun turns into a torture chamber in a couple of hours.

It’s funny that the joke almost instantly grew into quite workable gameplay ideas. One of the most interesting is to use the curtain as a shelter from the police, similar to Watch Dogs, where the hero hid in the cabin while the cops were combing the street.

Another, with the opposite meaning, proposed making it an obstacle during theft: you get into someone else’s car, the third-person camera goes into a black screen, and until you complete the required sequence of buttons, you won’t go anywhere.

A separate branch of fantasy went towards temperature. There is a health bar leaking from the hot leather upholstery, sweat stains on your back, and an air conditioner that eats away horsepower and consumes more fuel, so you need to turn it on strategically.

The former resident of Florida, however, entered the conversation with a very serious argument: the salon in the summer heats up to almost 200 degrees Fahrenheit, which is about 93 Celsius, and without tinting with a curtain there is simply nothing to do there.

The satire didn’t stop there. Someone demanded a full-fledged animation of folding the curtain, necessarily with the torment of Jason and Lucia, and so that the folded screen would then lie in the trunk and not dissolve into thin air. Someone sarcastically recalled the controversy surrounding the cut-off trips to grocery stores and the inability to sell fish. And the most succinct verdict sounded like this:

For the sake of immersion, these guys will start filling out a tax return in the game.

Rockstar, meanwhile, is preparing a release for November 19, and somewhere between simulating sweaty palms and the next robbery, it will have to find that very border.
