Gears of War: E-Day could be the first game to reach platinum status on Xbox, the new rewards system Microsoft plans to launch before the end of 2026. The prequel to the cult franchise is one of the platform’s main releases this year, and the list of achievements for the game already hints at the use of this feature.

Platinum trophies have long been the object of the hunt for PlayStation gamers – they are awarded for receiving absolutely all other awards in the game. Asha Sharma previously confirmed that a similar system will appear on Xbox later this year, although Microsoft has not yet disclosed implementation details.

What did you find in the list of achievements?

List of achievements Gears of War: E-Day published on Xbox Wire, and there was an achievement called The Lucky Ones Died on E-Day. It issued for receiving all other rewards in the game and brings exactly zero gamerscore points.

It is the lack of points for this award that looks suspiciously similar to the mechanics of PlayStation platinum trophies, where the final prize also does not give additional points, but serves as a symbol of complete completion. Other games don’t have this achievement yet.

Before release E-Day There will be many more games whose lists of achievements have not yet been published, so another title may take the lead.

The idea of a “for everything” reward is not new for Xbox – similar achievements have been seen before in various games. It remains unclear whether Microsoft plans to retroactively grant platinum status to such awards after the system’s official launch.

There is another version of the origin of this achievement. It was previously reported that Xbox was considering releasing E-Day on PS5 – after the remake Gears of War: Reloaded brought the franchise to the Sony platform for the first time. These plans were never officially confirmed, and Microsoft later abandoned the idea of a wider multi-platform release of its exclusives, so this unusual achievement may simply be an echo of those unrealized plans.

Release Gears of War: E-Day scheduled for October 6.
