Gran Turismo Becomes Olympic Discipline, FIFA Approaches

In February, we told our regular readers that they want to include esports in the Olympic Games. Then the question arose about which disciplines would be added to the list. The situation has become a little clearer: the first of them will be the racing simulator Gran Turismo. It is only necessary to say in advance that this and other “virtual sports” will not be presented at the Olympic Games in Tokyo but will be held a little earlier as part of the Olympic Virtual Series. The fun will begin on May 13th and will last until June 23rd. You can follow athletes through this YouTube channel.

Also, there will be virtual rides on Zwift bicycles. Konami will present its eBaseball Powerful Pro Baseball 2020 game. For water sports enthusiasts, there will be a Virtual Regatta.

So far, there is no list of athletes who will participate in the Olympic Virtual Series. We know that the Olympic Committee is in talks with FIFA. More information will be closer to the start of the event.
