The collection of remasters Mass Effect Legendary Edition disappointed the players with the presence in the first part of the Russian-language voice acting from the “Golden Edition” of 2009, which is not of good quality. Solution found Steam users. So, to enable English voice acting in the Mass Effect Legendary Edition remaster, you need to:
- Download .bat file by this link;
- Copy it to the game folder located at: Steam/steamapps/common/Mass Effect Legendary Edition/Game/ME1/BioGame;
- Go to the properties of the BioGame folder and remove the “Read Only” attribute;
- Run the copied .bat file and wait for the inscription “Press the key to continue”;
- Press any key;
- In the launcher, select the Russian language (if another was selected).
Important: .bat file should be run no more than once.
Known issues and workarounds:
- After installing the patch, the voice acting disappeared. It is necessary to delete all files with the .bak extension from the folder at ME1BioGameContentPackagesISACT, then run the integrity check of the game files, wait for the missing files to download and re-run the .bat file.
- The error “A duplicate file name exists, or the file cannot be found” occurs. It is necessary to repeat all the steps from the previous method of solving the problem.
- The error “File not found” or “The system cannot find …” occurs. You need to go to the properties of the BioGame folder and remove the “Read Only” attribute, delete all files with the .bak extension from the folder at ME1BioGameContentPackagesISACT, run the integrity check of the game files, and then re-run the .bat file as an administrator.
- The game crashes after Eden Prime. It is necessary to delete all files with the .bak extension from the folder at ME1BioGameContentPackagesISACT, then run the integrity check of the game files, wait for the missing files to download and re-run the .bat file.
