At the TennoCon 2023 presentation, Digital Extremes showed off its new free-to-play MMORPG Soulframe, which was announced last year. The presentation began with a large gameplay video, which lasted more than 30 minutes. In it, we can see a variety of locations, battles against enemies and beautifully staged cutscenes.
The developers also showed the Plain of Souls and Nightfold locations. The first will serve as your Ancestors’ village as you uncover more information about the world’s history and progress through Soulframe’s story. We also learned a little about the RPG elements that will be present, although Digital Extremes admitted that the RPG genre is “a little out of their league.” The skill set in the game is divided into three stats called Virtues: Courage, Spirit, and Grace, which are based on roles such as fighter, mage, or assassin, respectively.
In addition, the video touched on how inventory works in Soulframe. In addition to storing weapons and clothes, players will also have a slot for collecting souls. In the game, the Messenger (player character) has had his heart and soul taken away, and the only way to gain permanent skills is to connect with your ancestors and collect their souls.
One of the most interesting features of Soulframe, like Warframe before it, is the ability to easily change classes. In this game, they are called Pacts, and each of them provides three different bonuses; Digital Extremes showed only two: Fey and Ode Tempest.
Unfortunately, the developers have not revealed the release date of Soulframe.
