The developers of the cooperative action with the mechanics of the evacuation of Surfpunk introduced the fourth girl, in which they shared the main changes made to the game recently. The team focused on updating the enemies system, processing a mechanic of weapons and resources, and also added new challenges for adventurers.
According to the authors, earlier the battle in Surfpunk suffered from monotony, since most of the battles took place with similar opponents. Now the enemies are distributed by “families”, each of which offers unique combinations of enemies and requires a special approach in battle. The new system adds more diversity and makes the passage less predictable. In addition, the developers presented several new species of “squabble bastards” who will add fresh tests even for experienced players.
Another reason for dissatisfaction with the players was a resource management system. Earlier in the game there were three types of restrictions: energy, weapon wear and limited ammunition for pistols. In the update, ammunition is now endless, wear is completely cleaned, and energy is regenerated over time. However, its maximum supply is gradually reduced, which makes the players periodically call freight supply. Although the team admits that the new system still requires finalization, these changes have already become a step in the right direction. The developers plan to continue the balancing of this mechanics in the coming weeks.
The extraction of ancient materials plays a key role in creating weapons of raiders. In the world of Surfpunk, metals and technological artifacts are extremely rare, and the battles require weapons filled with Everest energy. Previously, players came across a problem – ancient materials fell out by chance and did not have a clear structure. Now resources are divided into three categories:
- Trash – basic materials found in broken robots and containers;
- Conductors-rare materials specific to classes located in lutus and panels;
- The nuclei are the most valuable resources necessary for unlocking certain builds. They can only be found in the “ancient engines” that appear after the events (for example, the destruction of three towers or battle for a while).
The inventory interface was also updated: now you can view the obtained items right during the race and transfer unnecessary resources to the allies.
The updated quest screen now always offers five tasks of different complexity, and each of them gives certain nuclei. This allows players to plan their path depending on what objects they want to create.
Additionally, “threats of mutations” were added to the game – special modifiers that complicate the passage of missions, but give increased awards. One of these effects makes enemies explode at death, creating chaos on the battlefield.
The developers admit that the complexity of the game has reached a level that requires more detailed learning for beginners. In the near future, the team will focus on improving the threshold of entering the game to help new players get used to both mechanics and Laor of the Universe.
Work is also underway on the updated sound system – soon you can hear more expressive guitar reefs and powerful anchor blows. In addition, a circular menu with new emotions will appear.
The Surfpunk team continues to collect players’ reviews and invites friends to participate in closed tests. The main goal for this year is to release a full demo of Steam, but the developers emphasize that they will not rush with this step – at first they want to bring the game to the perfect state.
