Krafton announced the acquisition of the Japanese Holding Adk Holdings, which specializes in marketing and animation production. The transaction was approved by the board of directors on June 24, and the purchase amount amounted to approximately $ 520 million.
Adk Group is one of the three largest advertising holdings of Japan. The company has more than 70-year history and participated in the creation of over 300 anime projects. It also has extensive experience in the field of media management, marketing and creative solutions.
The transaction suggests that Krafton will become the maternal company of the ADK holding through the purchase of the BCJ-31, which controlled the key subsidiaries of ADK.
According to Krafton representatives, the purpose of the transaction is to expand intellectual property outside the game industry and strengthen positions in the global animation market. In the near future, companies will begin work on joint projects, combining the strengths of both sides: Krafton production capacities and ADK many years in the Japanese media industry.
“Adk is a reliable partner with a deep understanding of the Japanese content industry and a high examination in the field of animation, marketing and media. We intend to actively look for the intersection between games and animation in order to create new opportunities together on global content market, ”Chan Khan Ki, CEO of Krafton.
