KRAFTON has created a special position for the development of AI direction throughout the company

KRAFTON announced the creation of a new position of Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer (CAIO) and the appointment of Lee Kang Wook, who previously headed the company’s AI division, to this post. The new top manager will be responsible for research and development in the field of artificial intelligence, as well as for shaping the technology strategy of the entire company.

KRAFTON emphasized that the decision on the appointment is related not only to Lee Kang Wook’s deep expertise in the field of AI, but also to his experience of simultaneously working in academia and industry, leadership qualities and successful implementation of large projects.

Thanks to this appointment, the company intends to strengthen its AI direction, based on three key vectors:

  • Innovation in user experience. KRAFTON plans to develop applied AI technologies for games and improve the quality of interactive content based on Collaborative Game Characters (CPC). A unified technological base will be formed that studios will be able to use at their own discretion, maintaining creative autonomy and adapting tools to the specifics of specific projects.
  • Improving production and operational efficiency. In development, AI will be used to automate routine and labor-intensive tasks. This will allow developers to focus on creative work: design, implementation of ideas and other tasks.
  • Providing new medium- and long-term engines of growth. Special attention is paid to the development of “physical AI” and robotics. For this purpose, a new structure called Ludo Robotics is being created. The parent company will be registered in the USA, and the subsidiary will be registered in South Korea. The Korean division will be headed by Lee Kang Wook. KRAFTON believes that the accumulated experience in working with large-scale interactive data and managing virtual worlds can become a competitive advantage in the field of “physical AI” (Physical AI). Particular emphasis will be placed on developing software for robot intelligence, as well as using virtual environments to test scenarios that are difficult or costly to replicate in the real world.

“KRAFTON sees AI not as a technology that replaces people and creativity, but as a tool that expands imagination and creativity. We will also look at the long-term development potential of AI and data-driven technologies while focusing on our core business of gaming,” Lee Kang Wook, KRAFTON AI Director.
