The fourth episode of Lanterns appears to have finally answered the series’ biggest question and explained a controversial scene from the first episode.

Spoiler alert!

At the end of the episode, Hal Jordan and John Stewart voiced their suspicion that Zoe Macon was the Hunter they were looking for.

The version about Zoe has been circulating among viewers from the very beginning. Already in the first episode, some kind of falseness was felt in the heroine and her strange family, and in the fourth episode, suspicions only grew stronger – after a series of incomprehensible actions, the character faked her own death.

However, part of the audience believes that the identity of the alien impostor does not make Zoe a villain. Moreover, according to one theory, she helped Hal Jordan and John Stewart save Rushville entirely.

Well, the theory is that Zoey really is a Hunter, but the city protects her because she is not evil: she helps and heals the city. The real villain is the Guardian. Zoe takes on the guise of Hal Jordan and dies so that Jordan and Stuart can stop the Guardian.

Another viewer expanded on the idea and suggested that this explains the scene at the end of the first episode where John sheds a tear over the body. The relationship between him and Hal was far from warm, so such a reaction to the death of his former mentor seemed strange.

If the main antagonist turns out to be the Guardian, it will be a major twist for the DC series. The plot is now exactly in the middle, so only the following episodes can confirm or refute the guess.
