The support and development of game services is often accompanied by various curious and funny situations. MOBA League of Legends players encountered one of these on January 4, 2026, when they lost access to the game for several hours. The problem was widespread, and it turned out that the fault lay with the forgetfulness of the developers – they missed the expiration date of the security certificate.
The security certificate was valid until 21:03:33 on January 4, 2026. As a result, all players who were checking at that moment lost the opportunity to launch the game through the launcher. After some time, the developers disabled ranked matches and began to solve the problem. At the moment, everything is working as normal, and if you continue to encounter this, it is recommended to update the launcher and client, and also check that the local time on the computer is correct.
Separately, I would like to note that exactly the same situation happened on January 1, 2016.
