The isometric Action RPG Magic: Legends, based on the popular Magic: The Gathering universe, was released in OBT just three months ago, but is already starting to pack its bags. The developers published a letter in which they announced the imminent closure of the servers. The game will cease to exist on October 31, 2021, without reaching a full release.

“Our vision for Magic: Legends hasn’t paid off, but we’re proud of what we’ve accomplished. Thanks to Wizards of the Coast, we’ve been able to bring the vast multiverse of Magic: The Gathering to a wider audience and explore new angles in the established ARPG genre. We’ve learned some valuable lessons along the way, and we will use them to improve future Cryptic developments, ”said Cryptic Studios.

Magic: Legends will soon receive an update that will allow you to purchase items from the ZEN Store with free in-game currency. All real money spent will be refunded to users in full.

Despite the fact that many had high hopes for Magic: Legends, the launch was unsuccessful. The game was criticized for its monotonous gameplay, lack of endgame, microtransactions, and controversial card mechanics that only made it possible to use random abilities. While some of the issues were fixed in patches, it failed to entice players. MMO13 editor deadlyne also played during the OBT and was unhappy with the game.
