In this part, the gameplay is somewhat different from the previous part. Now there are no such restrictions on building – you can put the building anywhere, as long as it is not uneven terrain and if there are no trees. Starting the game, you have several builders and resources that you can start to develop into. On the one hand, according to the players, this removed the uniqueness of the game series, but at the same time, the game became more like traditional real-time strategy games. The center of each base is now a fortress instead of a stronghold. Strongholds can be upgraded with a variety of defensive additions. Although the citadel changed its name to a fortress, its task remained unchanged – you can hire a hero in it. However, soldiers can no longer be placed on its walls (with the exception of a few of the largest fortresses, such as Minas Tirith). The changes also affected the collection of resources, namely the mechanics of how resource buildings generate them. If earlier the amount of extracted / created resources was determined by the level of the building, now it is more dependent on the environment. Plot

If you’ve only watched the movie, then some events in the game may be unfamiliar to you, because they were only described in the book. Both campaigns consist of eight missions, each with a set number of heroes. For example, in the first mission for Good, the available heroes are Arwen, Elrond, Gloin, Glorfindel. As you progress through the campaign for one side or another, you will be able to visit many different locations that were shown in the film (for example, Mirkwood) and not shown (Shriveled Steppe). Controlling the heroes, you can use their abilities. If we talk about locations in more detail, then in total there are more than forty of them. It is also possible to play on separate maps – fortress sieges, in which the main goal is, in fact, to defend or capture the fortress. Artificial intelligence will help you with this. There’s also a separate “War of the Ring” mode, which is essentially a campaign similar to the first game, but with a few significant changes.

Factions

The game has a huge number of factions. Each faction has its own heroes. Heroes, in turn, have their own unique abilities. Everyone who has watched the movie or read the books can understand for himself what abilities someone will have. For example, I don’t think anyone would doubt what abilities Gandalf or Legolas have.
