Lost Ark 2023 Roadmap: What to Expect

Smilegate and Amazon Games have planned a roadmap for what’s to come for Lost Ark in early 2023.

Following the Wreck of Halls update we received on December 2022, we’ve now been given a taste of what’s to come in early 2023. Just a week before the start of 2023, the developers released a roadmap showing some of the things coming to Lost Ark. During the first few months, we can expect a 48v48 battlefield, a new advanced class, events featuring characters from The Witcher, and quality-of-life adjustments. And that’s not all—we’re also slated to get a couple of new raids and open-world PvP content for the ARPG. If you’re looking for an overview of what’s to come for Lost Ark, you’ve come to the right place. I’ll be breaking down all the new content we can expect for Lost Ark in Q1 2023.  Who knows? We might finally get more ways to farm Lost Ark gold.

January is Witcher Time

Starting off strong, we’ve got the Lost Ark x Witcher event for January. The event allows players to encounter the iconic characters from the series (and games), such as Geralt and Ciri, as they unearth the secrets of a new island. Much like other collaborations in online games, Witcher-themed cosmetics will be available in the in-game store for you to purchase. And should you choose to participate in the said event, you can obtain a slew of free stuff, including stronghold structures, character customization scars, cards, and even emojis.

Besides the cast from Witcher being in Lost Ark, you can also complete Witcher-themed quests; these will only be available until the end of the event, so act fast. What’s great about this crossover event is that besides Triss, Geralt, Ciri, Dandelion, and Yennefer being in Lost Ark, their original voice actors will be reprising their roles for the collab.

The Lost Ark x Witcher crossover event was made available to players in Korea first (December 2022). Now, it’s already available across other regions, including South America, North America, Europe, and Australia.

Alongside the collaboration, Smilegate and Amazon have brought along quality-of-life updates. The improvements are mainly for guild PvP, Una’s Tasks, and the guild systems this time around, but we can expect another round of these updates in March 2023.

Celebrate Lost Ark’s First Anniversary in February

February is a big one for Lost Ark, which marks the game’s first anniversary in the West. As part of the celebration, there are a bunch of special events planned for the occasion where players can earn rewards. In other news, we’ll be getting the much-awaited Rowen continent.

Rowen is a new continent that Smilegate’ll add to the world of Arkesia in February 2023. It’ll be located in the east of Shushire, where everything is filled with Sylmael—crimson jewels known as a precious resource in the game. According to Lost Ark’s lore, Rowen is a forgotten place from Arkesia’s history due to the disappearance of a prosperous ancient civilization. But when rumors began to spread regarding the crimson jewels covering its land, factions coveting the jewels began mustering their forces in Rowen.

Item Level 1445 is required for you to begin Rowen’s world quest, where you’ll battle against the barbaric nomads that have made residence in the continent to join a faction. Once you complete the world quest, you’ll have to choose between two factions—Liebertane and Preigelli. The ranks for the factions are divided into 15 tiers, and you can earn tiers by participating in faction-related activities which reward Faction XP. Activities can range from joining co-op quests to killing several opposing faction members. Once you’ve selected which faction you want to be with, you’ll enter a PvP mode against the opposing faction.

March is All About Large-Scale Battles

For March 2023, we’ll get a new type of PvP activity in Lost Ark: large-scale battles. In the 96-player bloodbath, two teams (48v48) can battle their hearts out in the Tulubik Battlefield. What’s great about the Tulubik Battlefield is that it isn’t all carnage. While there are dozens of players to find on the opposing team, there are also bases to capture and secondary objectives to complete. In other words, there will be no shortage of action in the Battleground.

If you want to join the chaos, the matches will be held at specific times during the weeks in March. Two types of matches can occur: Regular Matches and Friend Matches. A Regular Match will have 48 players on each side, whereas Friend Matches are held when more than 40 players are waiting in line after a Regular Match’s opening time has ended. You can earn Faction XP in the Tulubik Battlefield by answering your faction’s call to action. To participate, you must have at least Faction Rank 5 and Lost Ark Item Level 1490.

Bring Out the Artist in You On April

This is what most players are excited for. A new advanced class, The Artist, will be coming to Lost Ark in April 2023. The class is capable of tactical versatility and supporting her team. With her flowing ink and magical brush, The Artist summon holy beasts by painting them or attacking enemies directly. The class’ attack power is on the lower end of the spectrum, but in exchange for that, she’s more than capable of providing support for her allies and rescuing them from danger by using her illusion powers. As a result, she’s bound to become a welcome member at any party.

The Artist also has a Harmony Meter that players can fill up by landing skill shots. When her Harmony Meter is full, she can create up to three Harmony Orbs, which she can either use to restore one of her allies’ HP or buff multiple party members. According to Amazon, The Artist is the start of a new class category: Specialists. We don’t know much about what these Specialists are just yet, but Amazon teased that more characters from this class category will be on their way to Arkesia before 2023 concludes.

What Are You Excited for the Most?

That’s about it for Lost Ark’s roadmap for early 2023! We’re bound to hear more news about other types of content once the months go by, but I’m particularly hyped for the Witcher stuff. What about you? What content in Lost Ark are you looking forward to the most? Do you think there are some updates that could turn into one of the best ways to farm Lost Ark gold?
