Kett Cardinal is one of the most powerful enemies in Mass Effect: Andromeda. You will meet her in Voeld after a bit of a chase through the outpost of Ketta, the exploration of which is one of the objectives of the Trail of Hope, a story quest found in the game.
The cardinal may end your journey if you’re not careful.
The fight can be tricky as your enemy is quite strong and has a very nasty ability – the cardinal can trap your hero and turn him into a kett, which ends the game for good, forcing you to reload your last saved game. Luckily, most of the time you can avoid her claws by dodging while in close proximity to an enemy. To completely avoid the attack, stay away from the enemy and attack him from a distance.
The cardinal can also send out energy orbs (such as those pictured in the screenshot above) that erupt and grow in size before dissolving. If you fall within its radius, you may lose your shield and additional health points. The encounter area is large and varied, so you should always be able to escape from the blast zone.
Your enemy is ascending, surrounded by a force field that renders your attacks ineffective. Avoid shooting directly at the shield and focus your fire on a small sphere floating around your opponent.
After you have destroyed the orb, start shooting at the cardinal, but be quick as your enemy will only be vulnerable for a short time. Use your best weapons and most powerful abilities to get the most out of it. Finally, the shield will reappear online and a new orb will spawn. Repeat the process until you manage to destroy the enemy.
Call for reinforcements as soon as they appear
You will also have to deal with the Kett soldiers, who must be eliminated first. Unfortunately, a new group of kett spawns every time you take a portion of the boss’s health (1/3 and 2/3 of his health bar). Don’t ignore reinforcements as the group includes Destined and other elite units. Focus on the incoming troops and then return to the battle with the cardinal.
The battle may even take several minutes, especially if you have chosen one of the higher difficulty levels. Also, use the supply crates lying around to replenish your ammo and biotic powers.
