The isometric MMORPG Dreadmyst is on its last legs as its sole developer has decided to “step away from development.” This means that support for the project is completely stopped, and the game will soon be removed from Steam. However, users will be able to access the game server if they manage to add the project to their library.
According to the developer, he has a lot of work that he has been neglecting throughout the beginning of 2026. Therefore, the development of the game stalled a few weeks ago, and now it has stopped altogether. Perhaps in the future the author will return to his project, but he cannot give any guarantees.
Let us remember that Dreadmyst was released on January 10, 2026 and attracted attention both due to its old-school gameplay and due to its abundant borrowings from other games. Some users accused the author of using other people’s game assets and promoting the project through bots on social networks. In addition, just two weeks later the developer announced that it had received a DMCA complaint from NCSOFT for copying elements of its games. However, in the end the situation was resolved, and the project itself was recognized as “non-commercial”.
