Citadel Studios has announced the development of a new game in the Aria universe, which will be a direct sequel to the MMORPG Legends of Aria. So far, it has a working title of Aria 2.0, but later the name will be changed to a new one. At the same time, the first part will not go anywhere and the authors plan to continue supporting it.

Aria 2.0 promises to be a reimagining of everything that developers have done so far. We are promised:

  • Gameplay with sandbox elements and a fully player-controlled economy;
  • expanding the skill design and distribution of items from the “classic” Aria;
  • expanding game world with scaling;
  • increased focus on player markets, handicrafts and trade;
  • improved adventures, points of interest, regular PvE and PvP events for guilds;
  • An updated Shards Engine 2 with improved 3D pathfinding, multi-story buildings, improved collisions, boats, sailing and more.
  • completely new user interface, unlocked camera, big work on optimizing server and client performance;
  • horse fighting;
  • voice chat with positioning;
  • regular interaction with the community and participation in an integrated and thoughtful approach to development, adapted to the virtual world and its community.

The release date for Aria 2.0 has not yet been determined, but more details are promised to be provided in the near future. You can follow the development progress in Discord or Twitter’e Citadel Studios.
