Dynamight Studios presented the autumn development roadmap for the sandbox MMORPG Fractured Online and announced important changes to the game. One of the key innovations will be the transition of the project to the Free-to-Play model. This step was expected by many players, since the developers have repeatedly hinted at such a change.
The team cited the low cost ($15), which did not generate significant revenue, as the reason for changing the Fractured Online business model. In addition, the need to pay for the game acted as a barrier to attracting new users, which is especially critical against the backdrop of competition with other F2P projects. The exact transition date will be announced later, but all players who have already purchased the game will receive compensation in the form of a VIP subscription or in-game currency Dynamight Tokens.
Along with the transition to Free-to-Play, the first season of Fractured Online starts. It will last three months and will include elements of both individual and guild progression. Guild members will be able to earn additional rewards, which depend on their final place in the ranking. Alliances will be added in the future, which will become an important element for the functioning of seasons.
The developers are also preparing a lot of content, including dungeons. They will be available for both solo players and groups, with the ability to select a difficulty level that affects the rewards. Dungeons will be a new PvE activity, but the developers are considering adding PvP dungeons in the future.
Along with dungeons and seasons, an artifact system will be added to the game, unique materials for the creation of which players will be able to obtain in dungeons. In addition, the developers are working on expanding localizations and plan to add translations into Spanish, Portuguese, German and Polish. The Russian language is still not declared.
It is worth noting that the update with the processing of consumable items and a number of other changes will be released this week.
