Bandai Namco announced about the temporary closure of the mobile RPG Sword Art Online Variant Showdown, which was released on the global market in November 2022. The servers will be shut down as early as next week, August 28, 2023, after which the game will go into extensive maintenance. However, after about a year, in the summer of 2024, the developers plan to relaunch the project.
As Sword Art Online Variant Showdown producer Takeuchi explained, the game has had many issues since launch. Although the team tried to solve them, new ones constantly appeared. After careful discussion, the developers have decided to shut down the servers and carry out extensive maintenance to fix all bugs, make various improvements, and add new content.
It is worth noting that all the progress accumulated before the shutdown of the servers will be saved. However, for this you will definitely need to make an account transfer through the settings (Settings -> Account Transfer), or simply do not delete the game.
