Mortal Kombat: Realme GT Neo2 vs. Realme GT 5G

The Realme GT Neo2 and Realme GT 5G smartphones are out this year. They are very different, so we put on a real Mortal Kombat.

Usually we compare smartphones, where the winner is immediately visible or the difference is so negligible that there is only a question about the price. The Realme GT Neo2 and Realme GT 5G devices are molded from a different test, so let’s take a closer look at their characteristics and see which smartphone is right for whom.

The difference starts already in this category. Look, the Realme GT 5G has Super AMOLED with a pixel density of 409 ppi and an aspect ratio of 85.9%. It is by these parameters that he wins, although sometimes the difference is minimal. Buyers of Realme GT Neo 2 will get a slightly larger diagonal (6.62 versus 6.43 inches), AMOLED display and protection in the face of Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Both smartphones have a refresh rate of 120 Hz, only the fragile GT 5G has connector 3 .5 mm for headphones, plus it is smaller in size and weight.

The Realme GT 5G has a top-end Snapdragon 888 on a 5nm process technology under the hood. It is more energy efficient compared to the SD 870 in the Realme GT Neo2, and it also shows 13% better performance in the AnTuTu benchmark and it is 11% faster in the GeekBench 5 single-core test – 1130 and 1017 points. Similar performance is achieved in conjunction with the faster 2750 MHz LPDDR5 memory.

The maximum amount of RAM and storage for smartphones is the same – 12/256 GB. The only thing that saves Realme GT Neo2 is a 13% better autonomy (111 vs 98 hours) and a 500 mAh more capacious battery – 5000 versus 4500. As a result Nano Review indicates that the GT Neo2 has a good “battery”, but gamers need to go to the bank and look towards the opponent, because the Neo2’s screen frequency in games is limited to 60 Hz.

In Realme GT Neo2, the colors in the pictures from the triple camera (64 + 8 + 2 MP) are close to natural, there is almost no noise if there is enough lighting. At the edges of the frame, clarity suffers a little, and the 2x zoom works by cropping the photo. From the front camera (16MP), images look washed out and details are very poor.

Realme GT 5G is considered the flagship, but in terms of the camera it does not differ from its brother. Despite this, Nano Review points out that the level of detail is good and the noise is much less than expected. Dynamic range and contrast are impressive and color rendition does not suffer even in challenging scenarios. But the level of pictures is not flagship.

  • Realme GT Neo2 8/128 GB – from 36 490 to 41 570 rubles
  • Realme GT 5G 8/128 GB – from 36 750 to 45 155 rubles

What’s coming out? In theory, gamers need to take the Realme GT 5G, but only under heavy load (hello, Genshin Impact) the processor drops frequencies and gets very hot. It also takes slightly better pictures, and Super AMOLED with Dolby Atmos support will give a vivid experience. Realme GT Neo2, although it is newer and costs about that much, does not take out the needs of geeks and enthusiasts, although the less gluttonous SD 870 chipset will not heat up the smartphone. I recommend staying with the flagship GT 5G.
