NCSOFT has formed a team called Neo Classicus (네오 클라시쿠스) to develop a new project. A total of 12 people are involved, and all of them are high-ranking development managers of the MMORPG Lineage W and Lineage M. The employees who will directly work on the development have not yet been appointed, so we can assume that the game is currently being designed.
The new team is led by Lee Seong Gu, who runs the CBO1 production group, which develops and supports games in the Lineage series. It is this person who is called the “Master of Lineage” and the future of the entire franchise is associated with him.
Since the word Classicus in Latin means “belonging to the first class,” “first-class,” “exemplary,” the South Korean media suggests that the team will do something large-scale and important. And if we take into account the experience of the employees involved, there are hopes for a new game based on the legendary Lineage franchise.
It is worth noting that, according to rumors, within CBO1 there is a Pantera (판테라) team of 23 employees, which was working on a project codenamed Lineage Classic. Thus, NCSOFT can develop at least two projects in the Lineage universe.
A reporter from the MTN portal suggests that Pantera will eventually create a game based on the MMORPG Lineage W. Rumors about it surfaced earlier and a mention was found in vacancies on the official website. And Neo Classicus will take over the development Lineage 3.
