The developers of the hardcore PvPvE action game Dungeonborne shared details about the upcoming first season, which is called DB Reforged. In it, players can expect many changes that will affect both game modes and key mechanics.
The first season will begin with the introduction of two game modes: Eternal Realm and Seasonal Realm. In the first, players will retain all the progress made in Season 0, and the second will give the opportunity to start the game from scratch. However, most of the new content will be available exclusively in the Seasonal Realm. In Eternal Realm, modes will be rotating, which will reduce waiting time in queues. The developers note that a similar system is used in other popular games such as Diablo and Path of Exile.
One of the main innovations will be the pet system. The pet is available to all classes and does not take part in battle, but is capable of carrying loot. Players will be able to give commands to their pet to evacuate early with items, which will guarantee the preservation of valuable trophies even in the event of defeat. The pet’s inventory can be improved as the game progresses. It is important to note that this system will be available to all players, and not just for real money.
In addition, the system of inherited items will be reworked. Now, high-level heirloom items will become even more powerful, but they will require significant resources to create. At the same time, low-tier items will retain their role as cheap equipment to help new players get into the game. Players will be able to choose what quality of heirloom item they want based on their goals.
An important aspect of the first season will be changes to the balance of the combat system. The developers intend to reduce the TTK (time to kill) in melee combat to increase the dynamics of battles, and strengthen the interaction of class skills with attacks, defenses and movement. For example, they reworked the Cryomancer ability so that it can be used more effectively in combination with other skills.
Monsters were not spared either. Regular enemies will receive more complex mechanics that will make encounters with them more interesting and varied. Some monsters will be easy to kill, but their attack can reveal the player’s position, others will have abilities that require the player to quickly end the fight. Bosses and elite monsters will be more balanced across all classes, allowing for more comfortable battles for both melee and ranged combat.
All of these changes, including the balance between solo and team play, will be heavily tested throughout the first season, and players can expect regular updates to improve the gameplay experience. The developers emphasized that they plan to continue to improve the game based on community feedback.
