The developers of the extraction action game Dungeon Stalkers have published their third dev blog. In it, they shared details of upcoming changes to the combat system, introduced a new stalker and answered questions from the community. Below we have collected a short summary from the article for you.
Skill System Update
To improve balance and variety in the game, the developers decided to abandon the free choice of skills in favor of fixed slots. This change will not only simplify communication between players, but also make builds more intuitive.
Previously, players could choose from a wide range of skills, but many tended to use the same combinations, which reduced variety. Now skills will be tied to specific slots. You can see a visual example in the image below, but keep in mind that the names of the skills are still of a working nature.
To compensate for the limitations of fixed slots, the developers plan to rework the perk system, which will become the basis for adapting play styles. Details about them are promised to be revealed in the future.
Ultimate ability redesign
The ultimate ability system has also undergone significant changes. In past tests, players noted two main drawbacks:
- The ultimates of all stalkers were used in the same way – through the activation of effects after the destruction of the mana stone.
- Their long activation time made them inconvenient in fast-paced battles.
Ultimate abilities will now reflect the individuality of each Stalker, their role and class. For example, the rogue Rio received an ability that enhances stealth and tracking of enemies, as well as dealing significant damage in a limited area.
In addition, the developers promised to retain old abilities if they correspond to the character’s concept, and also to reduce the delay when activating ultimate skills.
New Stalker: Lian
Lian, known as the “Eighth Lotus”, is a mystical archer who combines archery with martial arts and magical techniques. She came from the distant mountains to complete her test – to find the “Moon Lotus” in a dungeon created against the backdrop of the chaos of war.
Her story is connected with the spiritual search for harmony, and the journey is not only a test, but also a path to self-knowledge. Lian is a new character designed to add depth and uniqueness to the world of Dungeon Stalkers.
Answers to community questions
The developers also answered a number of questions from players:
- Ranked mode will feature more challenging enemies, higher-tier items, and increased risk of death.
- The third person perspective is chosen to highlight the individuality of the characters. There are no plans to switch to first-person view yet.
- New themes and elements will be added to add variety to the dungeons, including Catacombs and Goblin Mines, which will complement the current prison dungeon setting.
The future of gaming
Dungeon Stalkers continues to evolve, combining the mechanics of action shooters and PvPvE modes, but with a focus on accessibility for a wide audience. The developers promise to take into account player feedback and continue to improve the game, making it fun for everyone.
