Olden Era shared new details in the second part of the Q&A

Unfrozen Studio presented the second part of answers to the most frequently asked questions about the upcoming turn-based strategy Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era. The developers talked about various aspects of the game related to the gameplay and available features. The first part was published back at the end of August, so if you missed it, you can check it out at this link.

Brief excerpt from the article:

  • The story campaign at the early access stage includes the first 8 missions. The exact duration of the passage depends on the style of play. There will be heroes that are only available in the campaign.
  • The game features characters associated with the Olden Era, such as undead, vampires, elementals, and long-lived elves. It is also possible to see the ancestors of familiar characters.
  • The team is working on a solution to the issue of the late game being too long. Includes unique victory conditions, customizable timers, and a quick single-hero game mode.
  • The maximum mage guild level varies between cities, similar to Heroes 3. Each guild has its own specializations and chances of receiving spells.
  • At the start of early access, achievements related to the campaign will be available, and their number will increase in the future.
  • Training is planned to be added during Early Access to make the game easier to learn.
  • Early Access will introduce accessibility settings for colors, sounds, and keystrokes.
  • Artificial intelligence distributes heroes into roles: the main characters fight, and the auxiliary ones collect resources and deliver them. AI strategies change depending on the situation.
  • The ability to change the interface color is not available at this stage, but may be added closer to the release of the full version.
  • A spectator mode and other features are planned for the convenience of holding tournaments.
  • Each faction has a unique skill.
  • Outer dwellings accumulate creature growth week after week.
  • During Early Access, each faction will have 18 heroes, not counting campaign heroes.
  • At the start of early access, support for random generation for PvP and PvE maps is expected. Co-op modes are planned for later.
  • Mirror templates will appear in early access after the implementation of the underground level.
  • In Early Access, the game will be sold according to the standard model – there are no plans to release it on Game Pass.
  • The secret faction will be available from the first day of Early Access.
  • They promise to implement smart simultaneous moves and customizable timers for the map and battles.
  • Heroes’ abilities can increase as their level increases.
  • Control zones, as in “Heroes 6” and “7”, are not declared.
  • The developers study player feedback, but maintain their vision of the game.
  • There is currently no option to log in via a local network or direct connection, but support for hot seat mode will appear.
  • Ranged units have an unlimited number of shots, and the range penalty depends on the distance to the target.
  • You don’t need Ubisoft Connect to play in Early Access.
